  • '49-'53 Truck hood ornament - light-up bullet-tip ?

The other day, I was clearing-of my workbench, and unearthed the hood ornament from my '50 2R-10 pick-up: the heavy, chromed "rocket-ship".

I was noticing that the bullet nose-cone is a separate casting, held in place with a set-screw.

A few manufacturers were offering optional light-up hood ornaments in the early 1950's, most memorably De Soto and Pontiac.

Was there ever such an option for the Stude truck ornament, or has anyone created one ?

No there never was one as an option. The closest was the fender spears on GT Hawks.

Somebody must have made a lighted hood ornamant at some point. JC Whitney used to have lighted cone shaped bolts for license plate frames. Maybe you could make one from that.
