        Production break down:

        8E5 - 788 domestic 220 export
        8E7 - 827 domestic 267 export
        8E10 - 57 domestic 146 export
        8E12 - 185 domestic 19 export

Big question is, is anyone still driving one of those 57 E10s produced out there???

8E covered both '63 and '64...is there a breakdown between years?

Not sure of the 63 model breakdown, but production was 5,861 units.

The 1963 8E5 starting serial number is E5-136001. 1964 licensing information cites the same serial numbers and says.... "That are new and unused and delivered to retail purchasers on or after August 1, 1963". So while there has been some approximate serial numbers put forth, there can't be an absolute number since a given truck could have been in storage or in dealer stock for months before selling.

The numbers I quoted were from the Feb 1987 Turning Wheels article on the Champs. Those number are said to be pulled from the Works Accounting Section of the Studebaker Accounting Department.

VIN numbers can be very inaccurate when trying to count going from year to year (IIRC). 2617 '63 8E5s produced would mean the last VIN was 138618. First VIN for '64 8E5s was 138,701 so a break of 83 in the sequence.

Yep - '64 is unusual because it is the only year where V8s half tons out numbered I6 half tons - even in 1960 - both six cylinder models (E5s - 1916 and E6s - 1367) each out number the total domestic V8s (E7s - 1310) produced for that model year.
