  • '58 Prez on ebay

    http://tinyurl.com/2s57fo

Looking closely at the pix, it seems that this car has only surface rust on the frame AND what appears to be undercoating coming off. In other words, it does not seem to have any holes in the floor. The interior needs a few things(!)...but all in all, really seems to be relatively easily restorable--at least to daily driver condition. I thot that all Prez had a rear seat arm rest but maybe not. Is beauty ONLY in the eye of the beholder in this case? Am I missing something?

I talked with the owner about "can be driven, but is currently not roadworthy". He says it does run but would not want to drive it far because he feels it needs going thru before that happens. Gas tank, brakes, tune up, etc. He says the tires are pretty good and could probably be dollied with the driveshaft disconnected and rear wheels on the ground.

The driver's door problem is just that the door was caught on something but virtually no rust. And no reserve.

    Hmmmmmm

Well, it's certainly in better shape than some. But it looks like you'd need a whole new interior, and the driver's door/fender will want a LOT of body work, or replacement. Looks like a hole in the trailing edge of the passenger's front fender, and both rockers are suspect too.

OTOH, it looks like it's complete, has a V8, power brakes, a radio, and the tissue dispenser

Looks good for a 49 year old car and it's cheap. GO FOR IT.

Yeah - I've looked at that thing more than once[:I] Wish I lived closer. If someone gets that for anywhere close to a grand, they need to congratulate themselves.

Man that thing sits High, looks like a 4X4! It must have way more than just those reversed or long rear shackles that you can see! [:0]

The 14 in. wheels usually make these long wheelbase sedans sit very low, so it appears that they are REALLY big 14's and maybe it has coil spacers in the coils or something! [:0]

AND there appears to be no exhaust system past that little red muffler. At least on one side. Didn't they COME with duals? John
