Studebaker Colour

I am trying to figure out the original colour on a 1950 Studebaker Champion I just got. It is gray but the rims are all a dark red/maroon colour. I can't find the paper with the code on it. Would the rims be a clue. Thanks.

Have you checked inside the gas door, trunklid, on door edges, behind door panels, on firewall etc. all the places people do not always REPAINT? The Studebaker Color paper label WAS glued to the bottom of the glovebox.

No, the wheels are probably not a clue, in those days red wheels were very common owner "upgrades" AND the Black cars, had those dark burgandy/maroon (red with a lot of blue) paint on their wheels.

Generally speaking, Studebaker painted all wheels the same color, no matter what the body color was. 1950 wheels would have been Commanche Red. You can view a chip sheet for 1950 at this link.

Since you're asking about 'colour' I'll guess you are in Canada and probably have a Canadian produced car, in which case the colour is most likely Plaza Gray with Comanche Red ( a very maroon shade)wheels striped in Tusk Ivory.
