  • Build sheet help

Can anyone help me interpret the build sheet for my '53 Starliner? This is the original project car with power steering and automatic transmission that Bob Peterson was offering a few months back.

For example, what is Solex glass? Never heard of it before. "San Nose"? And are "WSW" wheels wide whitewalls? Thanks.

Solex glass is just the brand name for tinted glass. WSW is White Side Wall. San Nose is just a delivery code, I believe

The San Nose is a typo. Should be San Jose (as in a Calif destination).

I believe 1953 build sheets are transcripted from microfilm and I bet it really does say 'San Jose' on it. I would send that back to museum and ask for a new copy.

Don't know if they still do or not but, when I got my build sheet they included a scan of the original along with the new transcribed copy.
A '53 with original power steering is pretty darned cool!

No need to do that, lots of time and trouble. Easy fix, see below.

The Factory/Dealer teletype Code for an Automatic Commander K5 Starliner Hardtop is "CUB".

Yup. My 55 Commander K5 Auto also has CUB on the P.O.
