Sounds like a pretty sweet ride to me~ it's even painted the right color!!!

Thanks she is a nice machine. Needs paint and putting all the NOS stuff that came with on the vehicle. I have obtained a radio that is black buttoned AM/FM 66? Would trade for a white buttoned one or will just substitute white buttons later from a correct year AM radio.

Looks like there was only one other R2 Cruiser with AT on the column.

That is good to know, this car seems to have all the package goodies specified one at a time by line order. The original purchaser must not have wanted a floor shifter, and perhaps Studebaker wouldn't allow the substitution of column for floor shift? I don't know. It is the only R2 Cruiser for 1964 that I have seen or heard of. With Eight? built maybe another will come out of the woodwork.

What do you mean: Studebaker wouldn't allow a column shift to be sub'd for a Power Shift on an R2? You DO have it right? [?]

It would have been "special order", but they DID build it, and I know of others built after mid '63 when the Power Shift was supposed to be used on R series cars with Automatic.

He may have meant the Powershift was not available on the column. BTW, HD Flightomatic was not that rare with the Avanti engine. They even did a few early 63's with the standard Flightomitic.

As a second witness I saw that vehicle when it was at Kapteyn's . It was indeed an R2 with HD auto on the column. Green, dog dish hubcaps, bench seats, plain as plain could be, got photos of it too. A real sleeper with except when you came around and saw this beast harbored in the engine bay. Its not that uncommon, just look at the Marshall . The funny thing is the engine from the prior post is JTS1610 and if I remember right he told me this too. The engine to mine is JTS1612, which is the owner to a 63 R2 Hawk. I'll put up a couple of photos of this fine auto auto from Nov 2000 so this doesn't end up like the 352 Lark fiasco from way back. .

This is a photo of the gauge cluster and Flightomatic indicator.

This is a side shot of the automobile with the R2.

I should add at the time I was more interested in the details of the R2 supercharger and how the R2 air cleaner mounted so I have a few photos but they center around the front of the car.
