Anyone remove the lock cylinder from the door handle,are they finicky ? thanks for any responses.

I did on one of mine but that was back in 94 when I painted it. Memory isn't that good but I don't remember anything out of the ordinary although I guess when I reinstalled the cylinders I put them in with the teeth of the key facing up (as is the usual way) but Avanti's have them facing down.59 Lark wagon, now V-8, H.D. auto!

I just did this recently. You need to "Open" the door handle, and then put something in the open space you'll see, to hold it "open".
Now you can look for the release hole on the lock cylinder. I used a paper clip inserted in the release hole to free the cylinder. With the key in the lock, the cylinder will move outward ever so slightly when it is released...........then you can pull it the rest of the way out.
