  • Question: Does the SNM trailer any of their cars to SDC International or Zone meets...

...outside of South Bend? And if they do, do they do it with or without a charge to the Host region?

I know they trailer cars to offsite restoration facilities and I think they've gone to some of the higher-end car shows with museum pieces in tow, but I'm not sure of that.

Our club is discussing this, and never having been to a Zone Meet or International Meet outside of South Bend except for Dearborn '95, I don't know the answer.

    Thanks.

Yes Bill they do. Talk to Andy Beckman or Becky Bonham about this.

They trailered the prototype 1963 cab-forward truck to the 2009 ATHS Annual Truck Show that was held in Huntsville, Alabama.

Thanks, Craig. I knew they did take some cars to non-Stude big events, probably at least in part to help promote the museum to those who weren't real aware of it, but I didn't know they trailered cars to SDC zone meets and international meets.

I could almost swear to it but I'm kinda like rembering seeing an enclosed museum trailer and 52 Hardtop {lime green top and a light colored bottom} at Winks in the mid 2000's 04-05 possibly. I may be wrong as I'm sure you were there Bill. cheers jimmijim

They brought one of the 1964 sedan prototypes to the AOAI/SDC Atlantic Zone meet in 2011.

Gary, I haven't thought about Dover, but...do you think I could sell that idea to Sheila as a 25th anniversary trip this year? LOL

Bill, I think you could, and you should. It's not that far a drive for you two.

I had had the Gold Avanti Prototype at the Atlantic Zone/AOAI International Meet in Gettysburg in 2011. As Stu said, talk to Andy and or Becky on this. To you all it is a short jaunt.

Why not? Cathy and I will have our 51st anniversary in Dover.

The late Phil Brown and his wife Cindy used the Museum rig to haul Ron Hall's Avanti to Moline, IL (on their 25th wedding anniversary) because Ron had committed to bringing it here prior to his untimely death a few months before the meet.
I could never thank them or the SNM enough for doing that. (The Big 6 River Bend Chapter did pick up the hotel room for them... hadda use another motel because the host hotel was full.)
