  • Wiring Harness Vendors

I am looking to order a new wiring harness for our 63 GT Hawk. The only vendors I have found are Studebaker West and Lark Works. Both seem to do quality work, however the turn around time is a killer, I am looking at 3 months (not guaranteed) Has anyone had or used another harness vendor?

Not looking to be super original I just need something that will work and look good without to many modifications. The main thing is I need it by April to keep my build on time for my wedding.

    Help!

My experience with Studebakers West was quicker than 3 months turnaround. If I remember correctly, it was maybe 5 or 6 weeks for ALL harnesses for a '53 Commander K body.

'53 Commander Starliner (Finally running and driving, but still in process)
'56 Golden Hawk (3 speed/overdrive, Power steering - Running, but not yet driving)
'62 GT Hawk (4 speed, A/C, Power steering - running and DRIVING!)

I guess he is really backed up with orders. I would definitely go with him if he could garantee having it ready by April, but he wouldn't.

Try Myer's Studebaker, SI or the other vendors. You never can tell when someone might have a NOS harness in inventory they don't advertise and no one ever asks for one.

I used Lark works and found them very good and I did not have that long to wait. Evan S.

I just sent payment into Lark Works, and even now the expected turnaround time is by late Feb. I met Donald at the C.Springs meet last summer and looked at his products and work. I don't think you'll find a better quality reproduction harness out there.

YnZ makes really nice (expensive!) harnesses. I don't know what the turnaround time is though.

On two of the 60's Studes I've built, I got good used wiring harnesses from Bob Peterson (candbstudebakers here). They were complete, not altered any. I cleaned them up with a little paint thinner and rewrapped a few sections with electrical tape where the original tape was coming off and they looked and performed like new.

Thanks, credit really goes to the internet and my father for the rotisserie.

I was able to track down an NOS harness that Meyers had on their shelves. Thanks for all the tips guys.

Regular black electrical tape is OK to use, but after time the glue seeps out and gets sticky.

The proper taper to use on harness wires is this or similar. It also allows more flexibility in wire placement since it does not stick to its self.
