  • Great weekend of work...

My father and I had a pretty solid weekend making progress on our 63 GT. It was a very nice weekend in VA, yesterday we removed the front clip, stripped the old/lightly used upholstery purchased a few years ago from John Poulos a few years ago I will be putting them on Ebay this week (cough, cough), then we started cleaning up our frame and are delighted in the condition. Then today we cleaned up the seat frames on the 62 donor car made some repairs and gave them a quick coat of pain. They will also be making an appearance on Ebay this week... If anyone is interested feel free to PM me.

What did you guys get done this weekend?

Hm... I am glad I am not those seat frames

As for what I got done this weekend... well, I hacked down several dying Oleanders plants along my fenceline and filled two 75-gallon containers with their remains. (But I did drive my Stude all day Sunday as a reward for doing it!)

            Nice progress on your GT.

Saturday I finished fitment of the dual master cylinder on the frame of my Conestoga. Sunday we drove the 53 Starlight to two car club meetings and watched the 49ers crumble.

              Yes!

Keep the reports coming. It is always good to see progress being made on a Studebaker. Good pictures. They really help tell the story.

I spent most of the weekend playing with Grandkids. Josh and I participated in a Memorial service for a Confederate soldier. We dressed up in our Dixie Gray uniforms and shot our Black powder guns. Then went to Haleigh's birthday party, Picked on Ashton's new boyfriend. Went to a Turkey Shoot with Josh and Zack. Thought about Matthew because we took his Shotgun. Had to call Sabrina Sunday Morning to help me fix somthing I screwed up on the Computer.

Sunday afternoon I met club member George at the shop To let him have some parts he needed for his Studebaker. I did have time to change the oil in our GT while I was there. Worked on an exhaust leak but didn't get it stopped. Gotta get that done before The Turkey rod run in Daytona.

What I got done. Assembled the rear Hi Torque brakes on a 49 2R16A. Pulled the T9 transmission out. Started to install a T 98. Couldn't get it in place with the parking brake on it. Back on the floor, remove rear housing and brake assembly. Got it almost in. Front bearing housing is 1/8 inch bigger than the T9. Back to the floor. Remove the housing from both transmissions. Took them to my machinist neighbor for machineing. Now the transmission is in. Parking brake in place. Now I need to modify the floor to clear the parking brake.

My father and I had another amazing work weekend over Thanksgiving break. Here is a list of what we did and some eye candy pics.

                          - We built our own rotisserie so that we can clean up the under-body and such. Man that coating is tough.

And when it got to cold or late to work outside. We tested, fixed and cleaned some of our gauges.

ps: Anyone have a tip for the dreaded sticky gauge? We have tons of extra gauges from the donor car and ones we have purchased over the years. Some of the gas and temp gauges seem to work well, then stick to the right after a certain point. I have read in the forum that is most likely because one of the coils is failing. Does anyone on here repair them or know of a good shop?

WOW!!! This is an awesome project. You guys should be commended for your attention to detail. A frame off restore on what appeared to be a pretty presentable car is a he undertaking. Looking at your pictures gives me inspiration to get started on my own project.

What did I do this weekend? Worked on my shop remodel project. Insulating walls and such. I mounted my new heater. I used to be able to work in the cold during the winter. Not so much anymore!! Hopefully I can get my new heater functional by this weekend.
