We Drove Our '61 Hawk on DYSD

On Saturday September 14, our '61 Hawk was accepted as an entrant in the Cobble Beach Concours D'Elegance at Owen Sound Ontario. We were in a class called Post War Thouroughtbred. In that class, there was two Thunderbirds, a Hudson, and a Buick along with our car. We were thrilled to be chosen Best in Class with our car. This is our Flamingo Hawk which was delivered new to Afton Studebaker in Inglewood Ca. It has received several firsts one being at the SDC International Meet 2012 and at two of the ACCCC meets Concours D'Elegance. We didn't drive it very far that day, but it sure did attract a lot of attention. See the pix of the car and Roly with his ribbon. Two of the cars in this class were professionally restored. Always put the Fords (and other off brands) up front! Let them clear the way of bugs!

Rich, Check post 91, that is the '61 Flamingo Hawk from Afton Studebaker. I believe that your father sold it.

I think my Grandfather would be proud to know a car he sold that long ago was still on the road. And looking THAT GOOD as well!!!

Thank you for preserving it, and showing it off.

I had a guy a few weeks ago that told me he has seen the Stude Camper all over the place. Paso Robles to Buelton. He asked me why I drive all over the place. I told him "because I can". He thought about it and then told me "your a lucky man". He told me he is playing the lotto and the first thing he will buy when he wins is the camper. Not sure if I should be pulling for this guy or not.
