  • Saved from the Crusher

I just saved a 64 Hawk from the crusher. It is rough but lots of parts available. If there is something you are interested in please write me at studepickups at optonline.net or call at 845-224-7934. I expect to have it home in about two weeks.

Do you have any pictures? A 64 Hawk is a rare enough of a bird that it is any where near restorable condition it should be saved instead of parted.

Ted has restored some of the rustiest Studebakers I've ever seen. If he says it's "rough", then it's likely just a pile of rust in the shape of a Hawk.

Ted - Is this the 1964 Hawk that was sitting on the west side of Route 9W (near Marlboro) for a long time? If it is, check the car (Serial Number) out. I believe that it is a rare car, package car maybe. Years ago, he wanted way too much money for me to get involved in it. I can't imagine that it has gotten any better <G>.

If it is black, it MAY be my old 1964 Hawk, but I doubt it because mine was in NJ the last that I knew.

There were a disproportionate number of 1964 Hawks in this area. I can remember having a small Hudson Valley Chapter Meet and having four of them show up.

EDIT: Now I realized that it is probably the 1964 Hawk that was on CraigsList for parts in Connecticut.

Gary: This one looks like it was white with a black interior. It looks too rough to keep and kids have lately jumped on the roof and caved it in and destroyed the trunk lid. It has been sitting in Putnam valley for about 20 years. It may be best to wait until I drag it home to determine its restoration worthiness.

Wow! A third rusty 1964 Hawk in this area. I said that there were a lot of 1964 Hawks in this area. I bought my 1964 Hawk off the original owner in Hyde Park and he had purchased two 1964 Hawks new, after buying a new Hawk for every year.

Knew of a blue 64 Hawk in a junkyard in Blackwood NJ years ago. First time I saw it , it looked nice, and nicely optioned. Had disc power brakes, air conditioned, may have had power windows. Asked the owner about it and he said it wasn't for sale and no, no parts were to be removed from it. A year or so later I went to see if I could remove the body tag but, I guess the Hawk was asked about one time too many. It was crushed almost flat and pounded into the ground by a backhoe!
