  • Good Stude day (with pix) - Victory!

Productive, at least. Started getting the front end bolted back together (convinced my wife I needed a new Craftsman torque wrench to do it, too [^] ) and am pretty happy with the progress. It may not seem like much, but at the end of the day the steering bellcrank was back in and the upper A-arms were on.

Here's how it looked at 10AM:

And here's how it looked at 7PM:

The only bad part of the day was getting a letter in the mail from Code Enforcement telling me I have 10 days to make the car "operable" and that it's illegal to perform auto repair outside of a "licensed facility".

I figure if I get the wheels back on, no one will know there's no engine in it and they'll go away like nice little beaurocrats. [V]

Is that from the state of California? Is it illegal in California to work on your own car?

    Your work looks very nice.

Clark's in California where the wierdo's rule. I certainly hope that the frame is not being supported by those crumbling bricks! [:0][?] Be sure to get it on jackstands or some other suitable support before someone (or something) gets hurt.

For God's sake, buy some jackstands first!
I cannot imagine you under there yanking on a torque wrench!
Send me your address and I'll donate a pair of my old, crappy ones...
I can't stand pictures like that!
I don't want to read about it in the local news blurbs.
                    Please! Get some jackstands.

Don't worry! I know better than that. The car is on jack stands; the bricks are only to keep the exhaust pipe off the ground (I ran out of wire)
