My Dad's car....47 Studebaker Commander Coupe.....the firewall says Q1...I have corresponded to a fellow in New Jersey ,his Coupe has Q2 on the firewall after the serial number...my question, whats the difference?

Sidebar...we took the car to a Father's Day Car Show here,we were one of 4 Studebakers out of 1348 cars in the park.
The car got loads of comments and reminiscing from passers by.

    regards Bruce

When I saw your car pictured, I was thinking that it is the same car (as the one from NJ).

A Q1 is a Deluxe 3-passenger coupe and a Q2 is a Regal Deluxe 3-pssenger coupe. Three passenger coupes are often referred to as business coupes.
A Regal is more trimmed out than a Deluxe, such as better material on the seat.
The Q1 or Q2 is on the body plate and is not related to or near the Serial Number.
