  • Studebaker Astral - was this in the SNM?

I found pictures of the Studebaker Astral on Webshots. Was this in the Studebaker National Museum? I don't remember seeing it.

Leonard: I don't EVER remember seeing this at the museum in SB. Have been going out there annually for years. I wonder if it is not on loan to another museum or nuclear facility by the SNM? It is definitely a question that should be answered, perhaps by Dick Quinn.

I never saw it at the SNM during the national meet.
It would be a nice addition though.

I saw it once,I think it was the first time I visited the new building. They only display a certain percentage of the collection at a time. Wish they'd get rid of the Hummer and use that space for a Stude!!-or was the Hummer there during the International meet?

I've seen it there as well. Actually, I think it was there this time around.
What intrigues me about this is the timing of it's birth (1957). It was a bad year for Studebaker, and yet someone found funds to build this fantasy! Interesting that the fins harken to the fins that debuted on the Hawks that year.[:I]
Wonder if there was ever a canopy bubble for it?

                    1953 Commander coupe

No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic - no biblical BS to impress - just ME and Studebakers - as it should be.

Remember that 1957 was the year of Sputnik (sp?). Space travel was a hot topic.
