    • 'Sure looking forward to Friday, you guys.

Do you realize it's been 56 years since I first contacted Floyd Mendenhall about The Whistler, but I've never seen the car in person.

This will be cool beans, for sure! BP

      • Well Bob that’s a long time coming 56 years for the full circle to be completed. The TEMPEST EATTER will be with us for a short time before it morphs into THE WHISTLER and you well be the one that completes the circle The trip today was long and tiring. All was good on the road no problems with the truck or trailer Made a few stops that were very enjoyable one was at Shamrock Texas where we discovered three Studebaker‘s in less than an 8th mile just kept driving on them as we went down the street was amazed to see the old iron still out there. Averaging 11.6 miles per gallon not as good as I hoped sucking down some cash fast. Lol. Good thing the gas prices out here are better than Phoenix. So that helps out a lot. Down for the night in Tulsa Oklahoma can’t see the hard rock Casino from where were staying. See you all soon keep you updated have a good night John Kroulik

                Unbelievable! BP

I hope you fueled up The Whistler while you were there! It might be the only gas station on your entire trip you'll still find some genuine, back-in-the-day 1963 Hi-Test!!

A bit more than 5 hours to Chicago from this point....

To think, BobPalma, 56 years since you wrote that letter, but also that same time, plus some, this car has not seen it home in South Bend Indiana.

No doubt about it, Seb; I'm sure Chicago will be as close to the car's South Bend home as it has been in56 years. BP

I hope the trailer is locked, John. You are now within range of my house to get over there and back under the cover of darkness! BP
