  • Hey! This is Lorilee, John’s wife.
I just had the opportunity to watch the video for the first time! What a wonderful tribute! Thank you for the lovely compliments and kind words! It’s hard to hide how proud I am of John, Mike and their friends for all of the hours they have put into The Whistler! Getting it to Chicago was a dream come true for so many. I appreciate the support and purchases of the tshirts . I have an order to fill and send to Australia! It’s amazing to see such interest from all parts of the world. Thank you for making us feel so welcome! I have always found it so easy to connect with Studebaker owners! Next time, I’d love to meet the Studebaker wives behind the wonderful Studebaker men!

Thank you John Kroulik

      • Thanks, John; it was a great time.

The other videographer's name is Dan Schmitt of Dan Schmitt Motorcycle Racing. I've e-mailed him to see how he is coming along on his video and interview of the car. I'll post it here when I get it.

        Best. BP

Okay John but how about a night at Candlewood Suites so you don't have to do a quick turn around. As the night auditor I can register for an employee rate for only $39.00 which I would sport the bill.

            • Dick Quinn has generated an accurate reproduction of The Whistler's "window" [Monroney] sticker. Here it is.

Note that no Climatizer is specified, nor was the car so equipped!

              Thanks, Dick. BP

                    • $23.50 for undercoating. I am surprised they would have wanted the added weight.

Don, unlike a radio or a Climatizer, undercoating was a genuine delete option.

If you failed to specifically specify that you did NOT want undercoating, you got it and got charged for it automatically.

(Kind of like a fixed roof on sliding-roof station wagons; you may have seen a window sticker on what would have been a sliding-roof wagon, where there was a $100 credit listed beside Delete Sliding Roof. )

They may not have realized that when they ordered the car, especially since it was going to Phoenix where, as you'd observe, undercoating wasn't needed for the intended purpose...indeed, it would be a detriment to the intended purpose! BP

Sadly for them, Rich, a cigarette lighter was standard equipment, even on a Regal. This per PD 63-14, the prestige 1963 full-line brochure.

If you wanted to save that, you had to wait until spring and order a Standard!

You're right about the tires; that was a helluva deal. BP

                            • Finally, we have the Dan Schmitt Motorcycle Racing video from The 2019 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, where John and Mike debuted The Whistler. Dan's video is on You-Tube; link below.

Background information before you start watching the video:

Dan opens with some general information about the show and then, from about 01:58 to 02:30, teases the viewer with a shot of The Whistler and announces it as "The Show Stopper." He then goes about covering the rest of the show, which may be of interest to some of you.

At 15:28, he returns to The Whistler for "the rest of the story," announcing that The Whistler is The Big Story of the show. From 15:28 to the end is all Studebaker, including the other Studebakers at the show displayed with The Whistler.

Thank YOU, Dan Schmitt, for your enthusiastic coverage of The Whistler at The 2019 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals! BP

                              Enjoy, all:
