  • Meltdown drags 2013

This is a great event. The cars, people and racing make it one to attend. There will be a car show this year besides run what you brung. You don't have to race your car, just bring it and display. A bigger Studebaker presence is needed so come on out. You do have to pre register your car if you want to race, and it HAS to appear vintage. No billet wheels,no modern mag wheels. The whole object is 60's vibe for the whole event. "No attitude's,no ego's,just Vintage Drag Racing." See more here:

I'm going to be there but my car was rejected until I get some other wheels. I just got these! Maybe I can borrow some.

Richard: Why not use the set of base wheels that aren't being used on your '63 Lark Custom? The '63 pretty much carries the mags forever, now, doesn't it? We could probably scare up a set of Studebaker dog-dish hub caps for it....or what the heck, just run bare wheels like everybody did "back in the day."

It would be great to have your green car in the Byron show, and it is far enough removed from the Bean Blossom event that there's no conflict. BP

...and you, RD, must bring the deepest-tint sunglasses you own if you plan to look directly at Richard's machine in bright sunlight! BP

I have made many a lap at Byron, out in Oregon, Il...
I'd go, but would have the same issue as Richard... Wheels...
Putting on a set of 'period' wheels to satisfy the 'desire' to be 'nostalgia correct' just gets me about 90% there.
