How many splines are on the Pinion of the Dana 44 used by Studebaker? I was thinking in later years (post-Studebaker Dana 44) the spline count changed.

It is the late '65 and '66 Diff. pinion and flange (Yoke) that changed, with the change to flanged Axles.Last edited by StudeRich; 03-07-2013, 01:22 PM.StudeRich

I'm not talking about the axle splines. I'm talking about the splines on the pinion, where the yoke (for the drive shaft) attaches at the front of the housing.

Don't remember the year or spline counts but they changed to a fine spline at some date. Replacement pinions are a fine spline versus a course for the older.Comment
