  • New ebay policy

This will weed out a lot of sellers: (Less then 95% feedback and you can't sell.)

"Sellers are expected to perform in a manner resulting in a consistently high level of buyer satisfaction. If, over a 90-day period, a seller's interactions with buyers result in greater than a 5% level of buyer dissatisfaction as evidenced by negative/neutral feedback and/or Item Not Received complaints, that seller will be considered in violation of eBay's Seller Non-Performance policy. Note we're currently not including Detailed Seller Ratings in the enforcement of this policy since they're so new to the marketplace."

Just had an attempted Ebay ripoff happen to me on a supercharger system. Bid was at $1400. I felt comfortable with a max bid of $2425 as I can sell off a bunch of the system I don't need. A new bidder jumps in and takes the bid all the way to my max. Auction ends and within 3 minutes seller contacts me for second chance offer at $2425. The other bidder was registered less than 3 weeks, had only bid 3 times, all on this sellers items, and never won. What do you think? I reported him to Ebay for schilling.

Meanwhile, I've waited a week for this auction and still don't have a supercharger. Any one have a nice one for sale?

I'd do the Ebay thing more often if the policy for BUYERS was like this.

I have a bit to get rid of.........
I don't see how you can be taken advantage of by a buyer. They don't pay...you don't ship.

BTW, I've never had a problem with a buyer...or seller for that matter (knock on wood). I think the jerks are out there, but few and far between. I don't bid on items from sellers with bad feedback ratings or listings that threaten potential bidders. I have had problems a couple of times with items I bought on eBay and the sellers always made things right to my satisfaction. I have blocked bidders on my items with terrible feedback to keep them from winning an item I was selling.

In general, I think eBay works pretty good...and it's nice to see they continue to try to improve it even more.

I am really hesitant to reply to this topic because I feel stupid.
I sold a Gear VEndors overdrive to a guy in Phoenix. The money order arrived in 2 days, he was very friendly, answered calls, emails, and we seemed to be hitting it off yacking about cars and the like. He convinced me to pay for the shipping out of pocket and he would send the money right away. After several checks in the mails, no more answering phones or emails.
I plan to get one up on him though. I have his physical address and since I fly free, his house is 20 miles from the airport, I'm planning a little trip. I will plan it as for me though since I have always wanted to see Phoenix

They're turning the screws on ya JDP(just joking)

Seriously though, I think I know what that policy is directed towards. If you all remember all of the rampant "phoney" Ebay Motors Cars that JDP and Glen were shooting down a couple of months back. I think the policy is directed towards getting some of those types of sellers out of their system. Personally, I don't use ebay a whole lot. If it has a BIN I will jump on the item, as dialup and a bad track record of the advanced bidding business kinda leaves me at a disadvantage. But anyways, with the products I've got from Ebay, I have had fairly good luck with Ebay when I've used it. However, this is not to say all sellers are all good people though.

On one of my "Brand X" forums a year or so ago a member related his story about paying a similar side-trip visit to a guy owing him some money. When he got to the address, the property had a chain-link fence all around with "No Trespassing" signs posted. Looked around didn't see any dogs and thought what the heck, I've already come this far, so he enter and knocked on the door. Was getting ready to knock again just as 2 Sheriff's cars pulled up and Deputies with guns drawn ordered him to the ground. He spent that afternoon in the Sheriff's office while they did checks on him and waited for the property owner to decide whether or not to press charges. Finally, after paying $200 for towing of his rental car and a $50 impound fee, he received "some advice" and an "escort" back to the Interstate.

If that wasn't enough to frost him, he later learned the guy was using his "FATHER's ADDRESS" for deliveries and he actually lived with a girlfriend couple of miles away!
