  • '53 Coupe Road Test - scans from old magazine

I am a magazinaholic , and this is from a mag named " Auto Sports Review ".
I have a large collection , and this is the only issue of this mag that I have ever seen.

In this road test they mention that Budd was on strike, and for this reason the coupes were in short supply, as Budd supplied the bodies?

Thanks for sharing. It made me laugh out loud when I read the comment about "Detroit's barrage balloon school of styling." I am going to save that for the next time one of my buddies with a fifties GM product makes a snide remark about a Studebaker!

There must be some typos in the standing start times that the editors didn't catch. Otherwise an interesting article.

Does anyone recognize the writers? Did they show up in other magazines?

Most other road tests on 232 engined cars shows about 6 seconds lower ET in the 1/4 mile. Maybe theirs was a typo.
There is a soft cover book called "Studebaker Gold Portfolio 1947-66" that consists of 180 pages of road tests as they appeared in car magazines of that era. Includes most US, Can, Brit, Aus, magazines. Right hand drive models too!
