Richard, where did you get the notion that 6 denotes a truck part? A quick scan of parts books will show many sixdigit numbers that START with 6 and are CARspecific. There ARE 7digit part numbers starting with 6 and there are some such numbers FOR switches listed in the parts price list book. But that book only shows the prices of a given part numberf  not the application. I DO suspect it's a Packard number tho.No deceptive flags to prove I'm patriotic  no biblical BS to impress  just ME and Studebakers  as it should be.

I think it is a Compensator Switch or Solenoid for a 56 Golden Hawk. I have those comments in my parts inventory, not sure where I gathered that information from.Milt
