  • Studebakers in the Fiesta Bowl Parade, Dec 29, 2012

At this time we have 11 Grand Canyon State, SDC Studebakers scheduled to drive in the Fiesta Bowl Parade on Saturday, Dec 29, 2012. You can watch it on TV if it's televised in your area or I'll try to post some pictures afterwards. We will have the 1966 Daytona all shined up and Scott Grainger will have his big stakebed truck,(Toto) with hay bales that members can ride through the parade on, "hayride style". It should be a fun day.

This must be one of the types of things you guys had Nelly around for...

If we start heading down now- do you think we'd make it in time?
Since her brakes don't work yet, we'd get there that much faster!!!

Seriously though- plans are in the works to be at your Zone Meet in October.

I wasn't around when Nelly was restored by the Grand Canyon Chapter, SDC, but if you get her down here, I'm sure we would parade her.
Hope to see you and Nelly in October. Ken

Cool, Ken. That's the day/afternoon of our Indy Chapter SDC Christmas Party, which will be held at a restaurant that is normally closed Saturday afternoons.

I'll make a note to have them turn the TVs on to The Fiesta Bowl Parade if the parade is being broadcast while we're having our gathering. BP
We've got to quit saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are taking it as a challenge.

"You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality."

          G. K. Chesterton: This triangle of truisms, of father, mother, and child, cannot be destroyed; it can only destroy those civilizations which disregard it.

If I get it on the tube I will need to record because that day is already planned, Dec. 29 1962 was our day and the kids have planned a large party for us, but always good to see Studebakers in a parade.

Locally the parade will be on ABC Channel 15. The bowl game will be on ESPN. Check your ABC stations to see if they cover the parade or maybe ESPN.

So unless you have another reason besides the car, take the '53 Starliner!

A little update. There will also be a float pulled by a Studebaker truck, seperate from the group of Studebakers representing the Grand Canyon State Chapter, SDC.
ABC will cover the parade. Check your local cable and satallite stations affiliated with ABC for coverage in your area.

today is the day for the fiesta bowl parade. For those not local they can see it by going to www.abc15.com the parade starts at 11 am ( mountain time) that would be about 2 pm back here in the east. Hopefully the Studebakers won't be going by during commercials.....hate when that happens.

Just back from the parade. As luck would have it, our chapter group was not on camera. I think the Studebaker truck pulling the float got coverage. This parade is in 2 parts. Part 1 is not on TV, but we had a great time anyway. There were 14 shiny Studebakers lined up oldest to newest. We were last car in the group, right in front of the next car club, 2 monster trucks. Sorry we didn't get to promote the cars on National TV, but we did put some smiles on a lot of people in the crowd.
