  • North Central Zone Meet? (2012)

Say- wasn't there a Zone Meet in Nebraska this past weekend?

Did anyone go? Did you take pictures? Tell us about it, eh?

Yes we were there but did not take pictures (my bad). Some nice man cave tours on Friday afternoon. In the evening we gathered at the Farm and Ranch museum for a tour and a cream can supper, after which we had a lecture about early Studebaker history at the amphitheater from a park ranger at the Scottsbluff National Monument. Which tied in with the Monument since it has to do with the early days of the pioneers and the wagons. Approximately 51 vehicles showed on the field in the city park of Gering, Nebraska along with some along the curb! Guess they did not belong to the club or did not want to register, who knows. Good mix of cars Dave, some pics will certainly show up here soon. Best of show modified was awarded to a 61 Hawk from Kansas. Best of show stock Studebaker also went to a 61 Hawk belonging to Perry Meyers of Minitare, Ne. and best of show "other" went to Mary Miller of Gering, Ne. with her beautiful black prewar Packard limousine.

        Thanks for that report Frank.
Sounds like it was about as big as the Can-AM Meet that same weekend.

I saw that Chris- thanks. I guess I should'a waited two more hours and I wouldn't have had to ask.
        Oh well...

Looks like an outstanding turnout of Studebakers!

Thanks Chris! I had a great time. One of the coolest things about the weekend was adding over 450 miles to the Packard! What a hoot! Now I just have to get all the bug guts off the catfish lips!!!

Great pictures Carey! I grew up about a block away from this park in Gering, Nebraska and spent many hours in the 1960s pushing Matchbox cars around in the park with my friends. Good to see there are folks still "playing cars" in the park!

After looking at the photos I'm glad in a way that I did not go out to Gering last weekend. I would have probably ended up driving that nice 1959 Lark 6 home! At the last Zone Meet in Gering I had my 1960 Lark 6 two door and miss it terribly...it's the one car I wish I would have hung onto!
