No fire, just a little burnt rubber. When they got the Daytona fired up James had to "KICK IT" one time for old times sake. It was his daily driver for 4 years.

Thanks Ed. Josh is excited about the ride. He talks about it all the time. Although I told him you won't be able to open it up and get the full effect of the R3. He also hopes to bum a ride in a 60 convertable while we are in SB. Right now he says that is his dream car.

I agree with Zack. I just HATE it when a door won't close properly with the engine running. You gotta know!

started a topic Another Busy Day at th Shop.

Another Busy Day at th Shop.

Josh and I went to the shop this morning to do some paint prep on his Lark.
Shortly, my daughter Rachel and her entire family showed up. Her son Zack wanted to work on his 54 coupe. And her husband wanted to check out my 65 Daytona. I tried to give the Daytona to Rachel 20 years ago to drive to school, but she wouldn't have it.
My son drove for about 4 years then it got swapped and traded around several times and ended up belonging to me again.
Sadly, moisture had gotten under the Vinyl top and turned the roof into crumbs. I cut a roof skin off another car but never got around to fixing it.
Son-in-Law Russel is a Chevy dealership mechanic so the engine is right up his alley. He says he thinks he can handle the re-roofing task too.
They got the old Daytona cranked and running for the first time in several years.

Zack replaced a door on his coupe so he had to start it up to make sure the door will close properly while it's running.

Josh was waiting for chemicals to dry on his Lark so he asked if he could try to start my 62 Cruiser. Another one that hasn't run in many moons. But he wanted to do it all by himself. Pretty soon I heard it cough and spit, and come to life.

Then James came riding up on a Harley!

That all made for a busy and noisey Saturday, But I enjoyed every minute of it.
Working...
