Nope. Still here and capable of being driven. The single most common year/model studebaker Here today. I'm gonna say the 1963 Avanti. Thousands survive

Going by Stude events here in Arizona: 1953-64 C/K bodies as a group trump all the others. Remember that they are quite similar mechanically and quite a few body/glass parts interchange.

Sold my 1962; Studeless at the moment

        Borrowed Bams50's sigline here:

"Do they all not, by mere virtue of having survived as relics of a bygone era, amass a level of respect perhaps not accorded to them when they were new?"

I like the answer "Rusty ones"...
Even though 1950 was their highest production year, I think the Lark has them beat as far as basic popularity. If you go to any given cruise in, 9 times out of 10 if a Studebaker is there it's a Lark (of any year). Even the cruise in here ALWAYS has at least two Larks, if not more.

Not a particular year, but I am gonna guess GT Hawks are the most common. If someone does a count at the upcoming IM, I bet GTs will be the most represented. They make excellent drivers, in addition to nice show cars.

              most common studebaker

One of the studebakers with the highest production figures was the US 6 military truck built from 1941 to 1945.This model is not common to see in the united states because it is very slow to drive to a meet. Our friends from down under see them much more than we do here in the states. Many of the almost 200,000 produced were destroyed in russia during the 2nd world war.The answer to this question may depend on where you are in the world. In the States there are alot of larks that come to meets.Highest civilian production years may have been around 1950 or 1951. Maybe someone here can tell us the calander year with the highest production.

1950 was their best year all around, and highest producton.

Based entirely on the last Studebaker hosted car-show that I attended earlier this month, it is 1963 Gran Turismo Hawk as there were two of them out of eleven Studebakers in attendance. However, next year may have an entirely different outcome.

Hey Xtopher, what specific year of Lark were there the most of in attendance? Based on production, 1959 Larks should be #1 and 1960 Larks #2 but I tend to see more later model Larks at shows. Judging by the rust buckets in my shed, 1963 Larks may currently be the most popular with 1964 Lark types being #2.

Why are people saying the '63 Avanti? Weren't there only like 3,800 produced total? If every one of them survived, you'd still have more of just about any other model.

I think I see more Larks and finned Hawks than anything else, but they do span a longer time frame.

If common means, what is the most common one today, then I would have to say C/K bodies. Around here, if you ever see a Studebaker at a show or cruise in it is usually a Hawk model. Lark types would be right up there too. I agree that later Larks seem to have survived in greater numbers.

I think Gary should get some kind of prize for a fitting answer, like maybe a rusted out Lark fender <G>.
