  • steering column wiring

all the wires have been cut off at the junction box in steering column on my 1957 golden hawk. is the complete wiring harness, including the junction box available? have tried to solder new wires on to the junction box, but this is a delicate task. since this is a frame off resto, i hate to use an aftermarket signal light system. gary

    Howdy Gary,

I and many other members have had good results and can recommend Studebakers West in California. It's owned by the Thoms brothers, and they have the factory harness diagrams and can make nearly any Studebaker wire loom from the modern era. The looms are factory-correct, color coded according to original diagrams and with the proper connectors on each termination. I used them when I rewired Barney and it was as painless as a rewire could be

I sent the signal light unit to Studebakers West and they rewired it. Been working flawlessly ever since.

        Hi Gary:

I second (or third) the recommendation for Studebakers West. I talked with the guys at S W Thursday to order front brakes (55 President Coupe). I told them I would be ordering a wire setup soon, because my steering column wiring looks like frayed spaghetti. S W said no problem. In fact, the said to take out the entire switch, leave the ratty wires on it, put it in a US Post Office flat rate box and ship it to them. They will create an all new wire harness and will solder it to the correct terminals. I don't know about you, but I flunked solder 101 in auto shop (c. 1958).

        Lots of luck.
