  • '51 Commander Convt.

I am working on a Nash for my Dad and ran across this car in a boneyard in AZ. Considering it is one of the most rare post war Studes I suppose the price is not totally out of line, even in the shape it is in. Makes me sick thought, back in fall of '86 I could have had one of these complete w/ even a top mostly intact for $1,800, but I had just bought my Hudson and did not have the money. Someone got it and got a great deal.

I hope someone restores it -- I've never seen a bulletnose ragtop Stude in good shape.

Hmm. '52 horn ring. What year is the dash?

You need to come to the International Meet in South Bend this summer. There should be some there.

The last one that I checked out for someone was a complete car that needed a complete restoration. The guy was glad to get it for $10K.

So are we thinking this was a 52 convert with a 51 doghouse added? Can't see the body tag in that engine bay shot.
What about those rear fender guards - were these on 51's?

Don't '52s have the tall ones?

DVAP indicates they have a title for it. Wonder what it says.

Looks like they have quite a few Studebakers. There is a '59 Lark for sale and several "for parts" cars as well. Wish that bone yard was closer, the '53 would have a chassis and cowl by now...

Those are '52 only gravel guards. Looks like the front clip was swapped.
