  • Right & Left NOS Front Fenders For 'C' and 'K'

I counted NOS front fenders at the SB swap meet this week. There were eight left side ones, and zero right sides. Turns out, per a couple of the vendors I asked, the lefts are still around but scarce. However, the rights are almost nonexistent. I happen to have a left and a right, and will likely ebay them soon, but will have to think about how to list them.

To: Joe Hall, The Right side front fenders have been scarcer than the left side for years, not just with C/K Studebaker fenders, but almost all older vehicles.

My theory (based upon personal Ohio experience) is that rust is more prevalent on the right hand side because road salt tends to get washed to the right shoulder of the road and remains there in puddles, hence washes the passenger side with more salt long after the snow stops. I am glad I live on the West coast.

I agree with the salt theory. It would be interesting to see if there is shortage of left fenders in the UK. However, come to think of it I am not sure they use salt over there?

My best guess is because there are more accidents on the right side than the left. It's probably the opposite where they drive on the right side.

Back before they all got hard to find, the left grille extension was the hardest of the two extensions to find for a 52. Not sure why.

I've always taken My hat off to folks that have restored a'52, with the tough brightwork (chrome) situation they faced.

There were several rights, but someone bought them all on Thursday.

At one time,I read that the left fender was the one most often damaged, and harder to find.In fact an insurance report said that the LEFT FRONT corner was the most damaged part of any car in accidents.[And not just 'Studes, but all cars.] I wonder if maybe they produced a lot more lefts as replacements?

Joe.....call Ed Kahn.....The 56J I sent out to Oregon sustained 18k in damage in the trailer. Long story... He is having every piece of sheet metal front and rear replaced. He has a very reputable stude man In Washington State do the work. Am certain they would pay top dollar and save you the hassle of dealing with the ding bats.

They musta snatched them up quick, because I was there when they opened the gates Thursday, and never saw even one.

Joe, if it were me " I'd sell as a pair" but that's my way of thinking.
