  • Anyone noticed the side windows on the newer cars?

    These are ours:

Has anyone noticed the similarity between these and MANY of the newer cars' rear side windows? I don't recall seeing the forward-tuck under on ANY car prior to '53 Studebaker car. But suddenly, 54 years later, EVERYone seems to be doing it. The car mags call it the BMW rear window but didn't Studebaker have it first?

I believe Nash was the first with the Rambler Country Club hardtop in 1951.

And now that I think of it, the '49 Chevy fastback had a similar tuck-under--but smaller. Oh well...so they're copying the Chevy! Musta run outta ideas!

Yep, true. I was thinking the hardtop body; not sedans as well. Before the Rambler, 2 doors hardtops appeared exactly what they originated from~a convertible, but with a steel top and a larger 3-piece back window.

Studebaker may not have been the only car with those type of windows but at least they didn't have to fake it like the Nissan Altima! [:0]
