  • Rear Skid Plates

Does anyone out there know what year Studebaker last used rear skid plates on the C-K's?
(The steel half-round plates that attach at the rear bumper bracket-to-frame bolts)
I've seen them on 53-54's, not sure about later years.

Ed, I had a 55 President hardtop with the skid plate.I'll look at the 64 Hawk and see if it has one ?

Long wheel base cars (Y bodys) and C/k's used them. If you do not have them, they are always a nice addition. It only takes one time on a steep driveway and you'll wish you had 'em.

Both of my 51 Champions have them, but they are custom models (the bottom of the line) and as such, they do not have the sheet metal valence under the rear bumper.

My 52 hard top has them and a two piece rear valance, not sure what the valance has to do with it.

So '55 C-K's & Y's had them, and possibly used thru '64 on LWB models?

Not on my '64 Wagonaire or on my '61 Cruiser.
