A couple weeks ago, somebody here was looking for a coil for a '38 Commander. I said I thought I had one. Well, there is one there. Coil, and ignition switch with armored cable. The ignition switch is mounted in a little die-cast metal pod that hangs below the dashboard, and there is also a slider control in that pod; not sure if it was for the choke, or for the cowl vent.

Fasteners are pretty rusty, so I hosed them down with penetrating oil. I do plan to remove the parts, but it will have to wait until my next trip home. I broke my right arm at Christmas time, and it is healing, but still not up to the kind of struggle I expect to have removing that coil.

Off to work for another 3-week stint, probably tomorrow.
