  • over seas shipping

A client from Switzerland is purchasing an Avanti, and i need (would like) to help arrange shipping.
Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? And what port to ship from?

San Francisco seems to be the port of choice for all of the Australians, but I do not know if that works for Switzerland.

Switzerland is going to favor shipping from the right coast.
There are Studebaker people across the pond who bundle shipments in to a container. When I sent the Rockne engine to Norway it left Tampa in a container filled with nothing but Studebaker parts addressed to multiple recipients in multiple countries. The contacts for shipping were supplied by the purchaser. I know you're shipping a whole car, not just an engine, but the options aren't necessarily limited.

From where in the US are you shipping the car? Just about any east coast or gulf coast port should have international freight forwarders who can handle the details for you. I used a freight forwarder in Baltimore to handle the import of two containers from Ireland when I bought the two crate engines (R-4 and R-4) plus 3 1/2 cars and a bunch of parts).

Containerized transport is possible from anywhere to anywhere. On this side of the pond there is excellent transport from Rotterdam, Antwerp, Hamburg and probably a few more ports by ship, train or truck to Switzerland. These ports probably facilitate transit customs so your don't have to import the car first to Holland, Belgium or Hamburg but bring it straight to Switzerland. Your International shipper will know all about this.

It's going to be shipped to my new shop in St.Louis. Then, I will give it a little tlc and change the speedo to kilometers. I will ship it from there.
I have the US shipping part down, but over seas is new to me.
              Thanks for all the suggestions.

STL has several international brokers. To the STL port, down the Big Muddy, New Orleans, out the Gulf and gone.
