It looks like it will only be sold in India, at least to start with.
I wonder if the planned production date will be stretched out like with Delorean.
How much is Rs30lakh in US dollars?
Will it be permitted/accepted in SDC/AOAI events?

        I do hope that's a joke!

It has nothing in common with the Studebaker Avanti other than the name.
By that reasoning, we should allow Toyota Land Cruisers and Dodge Daytonas in the meets as well.

Or perhaps I'll buy an Avanti twin turboprop...or an Avanti stuffed toy or Avanti refrigerator and demand to be judged.

1 lakh is 100,000 so 30 Lakh is 3,000,000 Indian Rupees = US$60,636.69 according to XE.Com currency conversion site. If it were a good car, which it probably isn't using US standards it might be a good buy, can't imagine them selling many of them in the states if they were ever brought over.

And a 2012 Ford, Chevy or Chrysler looks nothing like its fifty year predecessor.
The point to be made is, there is no South Bend blood or sweat dropped on this endeavor.
Neither a Studebaker, nor an Avanti!

It is an Avanti as that's what it's called, nothing to do with the one we know and love. Nothing to worry about as I can't imagine any will be exported.

Considering that the later cars have no Studebaker DNA in them other than some external design cues, I do wonder why the post-1991 Avantis are Judged at SDC meets.
I can certainly see them at AOAI events, but IMHO any SDC link is a stretch.

Any car company can call their car an Avanti and there's not much anyone can do about it. It's just a model name. There are more than 260 docs on file at USPTMO fo the mark Avanti - about 2/3 of 'live appse and the other third dead.

They aren't representing it as a Studebaker Avanti and they aren't maintaining it has any of the Stude Avanti liniage, they're just naming onr of their car models.
