The use of four door cars in the gas classes of the late 1950's and 1960's came because the class breaks were determined by a weight to cubic inch formula. Thus some very unique combinations arose. The Flintstone Flyer that BP posted is a perfect example as was the Champion I posted first in this thread. Though we usually think of the Willys coupes as a typical gasser. But there were several four door Willys in the gas classes. Evidently the four door cars had more weight over the rear wheels for better traction.
