It indeed was a good time, though following Jamie home was a little nerve racking. I felt sorry for the guy.

Brought a bunch of Stude stuff home, including a mystery set of heads. I was hoping that they were some top secret Studebaker heads but ended up being early Mopar.

Mr. Jack bought a ragged out early 70's Chevy truck, equipped with a 454 engine that is supposed to be rebuilt with considerable money invested in it. Jack wants to find an old M series and install this monster power train in it. The truck is nor worth repairing so we decided that I would bring it home and remove the engine and transmission, then scrap the truck. After the meet yesterday, Joe Roberts and I followed Jack and the Studemino home to check out the truck and retrieve some parts. After arriving at the White ranch, Jack put the dogs up and started moving things around, preparing to load us up with stuff.
I went to the old Chevy truck and looked it over. I cranked the old girl up and it didn't sound TOO bad. We pumped up the tires, drove it around the back yard and then proceeded to load the back of it up with a few engines and other stuff. After loading and strapping things down, I made Jack drive the truck to the gas station for a fill up. The truck rand good and pulled really well, even with the heavy load on it.
It was now time to make the 130 mile trip home. Linda, Jack's wife loaded us up with some tasty brownies and we headed out. Cody(my 9 year old) and in the truck and Joe following close behind. The steering has a little too much play and the brakes sometimes had a mind of their own but we motored on. Joe called me once to ask if the lights worked. I replied that I had no idea and if it did not have lights, we would park it when it got dark. We only had to stop a couple of times, once for tranny fluid and once to make sure we still had communication (poor phone signal). We made to the shop with no problems even though my arms were tired from sawing the steering wheel for three hours. Quite the adventure for a Saturday afternoon.
On a little more serious note. I have come to realize how much I appreciate my extended Studebaker family. I seem to drag Joe in to most of my adventures and he never complains. Jack is a great guy, a lot of fun and always entertaining. There are so many great people that have been brought together because of this quirky association with Studebakers, I could not possibly name all of them that have made an impression on me.
Thanks for allowing me and my family to be a part of this big Studebaker family.

                          Brownies

Jamie..... The problem was not with the stearing (I just had everything rebuilt) but the brownies I gave you some of the "special" ones we have for special events..................

                              Joe,
Don't feel too bad, I only got one. James watched me bring them in and a couple of hours later.........gone!
