    I had read somewhere that certain custom knife makers like Behring and Ruana used Studebaker springs (back in the 40s) because the steel was consistent and forged well. Behring and son still use Studebaker springs in many of their knives...though I suspect it is for legacy significance rather than the steel being better than some of the modern steels available today. That's what I've read...I know squat about forging or knives (except the ones used to cut a steak...which I can't have with this dadblamed diet I'm on)
