  • Grille Surrounds 1953-54 Coupe

Being a new Studebaker owner and searching for some parts and not sure of availability and prices..

I have painted grille surrounds and want chrome.
I could have mine chromed or look for decent condition chrome ones ready to install..

Any help with the options ?
What would a chroming on mine be approximately..( I am getting to chrome shops next week hopefully)

What is a good price to pay for good (if available) chrome surrounds..

Any help will be greatly appreciated..
    AKA Ken

There are some on the swap page now...

      Studebaker Swap Page

If they are as good as the seller says they are, they are priced at or below market. One is a '54 which means it has several additional holes to accommodate the 54 grill bars, but they don't show that much when installed.

The biggest potential problem with plating is that they are made out of pot metal and MOST plating shops will turn them into shiny junk . If you get yours plated make sure it is done by a shop that has a good track record with pot metal and that will be honest with you about the results.

        Ken:
I WANT painted surrounds for my '53 Starliner. Assuming you can find some good chrome ones, how much would you want for your painted ones?

Yes I saw these and that's part of what prompted my thread.
I am used to prices for Jaguar XK120 parts but there is much more available options as the entire car can be made from aftermarket parts !

The plating shops are high end Hot Rod shops that have done work for me previously.

Dick..the extra holes..are they visible easily when installed ?

            Howard..
I need to look at mine when I get them off the car. While they look great on..I would want to be sure what I have..not so much for price but to make sure they are as good as they appear.

I will give you first option..
Let me make sure they are as good as they appear. I know sometimes pot metal stuff can look better painted than they really are..!
I have no idea of value on this stuff..so I might need some clue about averages..

I will be back to you
Going out to garage to look at them..

I also need to sell my Wide White BFG 215x70 Silvertowns and 15X7 (4.5 ) wheels..

The one on the left in the picture is the '54. You can see the three holes in the rear of the bottom.

                    Howard

Will do when I get these changed out.
I opened the "surprise box" I got with the coupe. I have painted tailights with lenses...hood hinges..other stuff..

                    Like a late Christmas present..
