    To save you alot of trouble reconditioning that cap you should buy one from Jay Fisher. I loaned him my NOS cap and bird for patterns. His quality is far superior than any others that have been repoed.

    This is sort of an intimidating project for me, the radiator cap from a 1933 Studebaker. I fell in love with the art deco detail. The chrome surface literally looks like a cheesegrater, but as I started working on the surface more and more detail is revealed. I've seen a few of these repopped and rechromed, but none retained the level of small details that are visible on this piece, I suppose due to the rechroming and the normal loss of detail in the repop process. I'm hoping I can retain the detail in this restoration as it is truly amazing.












    Removed chrome and started cleaning out pits.










    Tossed them in ultrasonic bath overnight and hypodermic needle detailing starts
