Stude Outboard?

Looks like an early 70s or maybe late 60s Evinrude to me. The kind of grayish drive mid section and lower unit with the white Powerhead cover look Evinrude to me. Johnsons were mostly sold colored like all white or all red, and Mercs are mostly all black, although I have seen white and custom painted of course, but Evinrude liked the 2 tone thing.
My first boat had an 85hp Evinrude and it looked like a similar gray/green/bronzey color and white head cover with a red and blue stripe on it. Great motor.
That Stude outboard looks to be in the 3-8 hp range to me by how thin the mid section is.

I can't remember any Evinrudes of that vintage without a remote fuel tank. I'm near certain it's a 40 year old Eska, an aircooled, single cylinder, cheapo. I bought one once after my Evinrude was stolen. The little Evinrude twin was built like a Swiss watch; the Eska like a cheapo lawn mower.
If I still owned an Eska, I'd try to camouflage it too.

Many of Sears outboards were made by Evinrude. If you look on vintage outboard parts microfisc and parts sites the Sears and Evinrudes and Elgins are often listed in the same parts catagories and alot of part numbers interchange.
I think my guess is close. Late 60s Evinrude or an off brand possibly made by evinrude. Many of the early to mid 60s outboards were still very round shaped and kind of art deco looking where, in my experience, most of the boxy square looking stuff started in the later years of the 60s.
But as always there are exceptions to all rules, including this one.

Also, somewhere I've seen a X brand pickup with STUDEBAKER across the tailgate, don't remember where?!? Oh well, it gets the name out there and that's a good thing.
No wonder it seemed like a lawn mower - the engines for Eska were made by Tecumseh.
