  • Looking for CAMPER parking with hook-ups

Pulling a camper to South Bend for the Nationals. Needing 30 amp hook-up and water. Are the fairgrounds setup for this? Are there any options close to the fairgrounds that offer a place for kids to play, pool, etc? Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you

Back in 2007- I seem to recall that there was camping onsite at the FairGrounds.
I don't know how many spaces or what is there for hook-ups, though.

Seeing those rigs is what turned me on to the idea of a big ol' bus as an RV.
And it'll happen for me one of these days...

I would like to bring the kids to one of these Nationals, but when we go camping, they always want a lake or pool to swin in. I do not even see anything close to South Bend that is priced right. To go to their State Parks one must buy an out of State permit.

Is it that expensive? Our state parks are very nice and Potato Creek is relatively new. Unless the Out of State permit was prohibitive, I'd certainly think you'd want to check that out. BP

I may have overlooked it but I did not see an out of state camping rate.

Found a couple of places tonight. Will call them this week. Two offer fishing and a pool so I should be fine. I will also call the State Park group and check into Potato Creek. Thanks for all of your input

What would you consider "priced right"???

Potato Creek State Park is at the end of our road. In the height of vacation season, we see at least half of all RV's heading into the Park displaying out-of-state license plates ...so many must think the "price IS right."

And yes, there is a nice lake there with a great sandy beach for your G-Kids to enjoy.

No G-kids, not yet at least, maybe in 15 to 20 years. How many minutes do you thing it would take to get from Potato Creek to the Int'l Meet? We are leaning toward the Potato Creek. Most parks are very quite verses the privately owned places. thanks for your input.

Another "unofficial" option might be Mini Mountain Camp Grounds ...directly across the road from the old "Studebaker Proving Grounds." http://minimountaincampgrounds.com/

For more info about that area, see this current SDC Forum thread:
