Last night I watched the rebroadcast of portions of the Mecham Auction in Kansas City. A really attractive '57 Golden Hawk sold yesterday for $37,500.

Not a bad price, but far less than some of the more extravagant bidding and expectations for similar cars in past months.
Anybody familiar with this car? It's said to have been a top trophy winner "at South Bend"... but it doesn't say when. My 56J was a top trophy winner on the west coast, but that was in 1970!
Any idea if it's a recent or older restoration? Seems like a fresh restoration should have brought more. But there were quite a few unsold cars, perhaps buyers are becoming a bit uneasy again.
Still, it was a very appealing Golden Hawk.
