  • Lark rear end and springs for Scrap

I'll be pulling my rear end (Dana 27 not TT) and worn out springs out of my 62 Lark next weekend. I've posted before but no one is interested in the rear end but I need to get rid of it due to space limitations. what is scrap value for metal parts like this? I think its too heavy to put by the curb because the junk guys probably won't be able to lift it. Just trying to see if its worth my while to haul it to a scrap yard. Thanks

Steel is currently over $300/ton pushing $350 in some areas, so you need to judge if it's worth your while.

As far as weight, set it out on pickup day and I'll bet it won't last two hours, waste management doesn't stand a chance of getting it. But, WM won't pick it up with the regular disposal truck but will send a lift gate later . I live on a small rural road with only one way in and out. On pickup day at least four trucks make it down here to find steel scrap. I throw mine in a small trailer and when it looks like a decent load I head for the recycle yard about eight miles away. Made almost $500 last year just carting old car parts and appliances to the yard.

Hey Gene. Good to hear from you. I'll put it out and take my chances. I get several junk guys every trash pick up day. Worst thing that happens is I have to bring it back in. My snotty neighbors won't like it either, so that's a plus lol.
