    Kmac530,
You can see pictures of the radiator at RacingStudebakers.com under the Projects and Stude Camper returned to Stude Power posts, page 3. You will see it is a copper radiator and the picture was of the prototype being test fitted to Jack Chisenhalls 2R5. Jack is a Stude guy and the radiator is something he had made and will soon market. He wanted the radiator is being built to compliment the A/C and heating unit he designed and is marketing. You can contact Jack by email at:
    jack@vintageair.com
Tell him Dan sent you .

By the way I think there is a link to the A/C and radiator here too. I seem to remember Matt responding to it. ??

Normally a larger one is not needed when the Cooling System is operating properly.
However, an optional 3 Row or 4 Row core can be installed in your stock radiator at your local Radiator Shop if you idle a lot with the A/C on in the Texas or Arizona 100* plus heat.

    Now if they'd make a $200 Radiator.....Geesh!

I can't understand a custom copper radiator going for $500, but a plain ol aluminum one?
Send me a $200 aluminum radiator! I'll paint the thing and nobody will know the diff.
I know that copper's high, but the gouging's got to stop.

Dan do you have a link to that VA radiator? I have been on the VA website and I can find the air/heat system with condensor, but no radiator.

Close but no cigar! It would have been so easy to do it right.

The drain petcock and the overflow tube are on the wrong side!

    Looks very good otherwise.

If we assume that they're only talking about pickups (and not the bigger trucks), then this radiator presumably was designed for the Champion engine. The Commander 6 did not become available until late in the 1949 model year, and very few were sold until 1950. The Commander 6 and the later V8s used a radiator with significantly more cooling capacity.

This is a direct fit radiator for a 1949 Studebaker truck. We suspect that this radiator will fit for applications from 1948-1953, but have not yet confirmed that. If you have a model other than the 1949 we highly recommend that you call and talk to one of our designers to determine if this radiator is the same as the one in your truck.
The standard core for this radiator has 2 rows of 1" tubes. The tubes are space 3/8" apart, on center. Some manufactures space their tubes1/2" on center. With 3/8"centers we are able to put allot more rows of tubes, fins, and coolant volume in the core as well as create allot more surface area for air to travel over......allowing for greater heat dissipation. The fin count on this radiator is 16 Fins per inch. Please read through our FAQ ( frequently asked questions ) page to learn more about the different core types and constructions and why the performance of ours are superior to the other options in the market.
The filler neck is machined from a solid block of billet aluminum. This is a very strong type of filler neck that will not get damage during shipping and will not become deformed over time as with the stamped filler necks that many manufactures use.
The core is fully furnace brazed and is not epoxied. This unit is fully TIG welded. We do not MIG weld any portion of our products.

    SKU: 60300-100

    $549.00 (USD)
