interesting! I first saw this picture yesterday but, I use a small laptop and did not notice much detail. This morning, I took another look and zoomed in. Notice that there is a large crowd on the other side of the rail.

Also, look at the ramps leading from the top row of cars to the truck on the next rail-car. To me, it looks like the cars are about to be unloaded by driving them across the ramps and down beyond the truck. I wish there were another picture showing more of the truck ramp to the right. The big truck is also interesting in its configuration. It seems to have a rather long wheelbase for a transporter. I wonder if it was designed for the sole purpose as serving in a rail yard as a portable ramp for unloading triple-decker rail cars?

That was a full sized 'portable parking lot' tractor trailer rig from the day...
Note the 'low mount' 5th wheel that hooked to the trailer (out of the picture).
You may well be right that the tractor was driven up there to use as a ramp to unload the top (and middle) deck.

that looks like my car on the top.2nd from the front. looks to be a 59-60 lark............................aah..........................the days I don't remember lol.....................( I was born in 70 lol)................................................

I've done a few risky things in moderately high places but they can find a "braver" person than me to drive those cars across over the top of the truck cab!

I think these are '61's as they mostly seem to have quad headlights. Also, there is a hawk as the front car on the bottom row, and its not a GT grill.

My first impulse is to model that in my train-set's yard. But nobody would believe it.

That truck certainly does look like a specialty unit; the swayback-looking frame, etc. 'Must have been built for the sole purpose of what it is doing in the photo. BP

What a cool picture. I would love to have some details on what is going on. And yes, it would have to be a daring driver to unload that top level of cars over that truck!
