  • Super Hawk 160 MPH Speedometer

    I've got a question for you guys. I've got a Hawk 160 MPH speedometer that I've been thinking of putting on ebay. My problem is that it appears to be NOS, but it has slight surface rust on the bezel and there is dirt on the back side of the glass.

    Do I leave it as is or should I pull the bezel, repaint it and clean the glass? Is there more value in it being NOS or refinished?

    Thanks,
    Nick

    I would put it on eBay as it is (NOS) and explain and picture the condition. This lets the buyer decide what they want to do with it.

      Since you ask;

      Sell it "as is" describing it the best you can with all the info you know about it!!! Personally, I've never seen a new S-W speedometer without at least .1 mile showing on the odometer for test purposes.

        I would clean it up and see what you could get for it. If you have not done one before be careful to pry off the bezel very slowly. The bezel goes out of round really quickly and becomes very hard to get back into the chrome surround. I've cleaned up several GT Hawk speedos and tachometers, and not a bad idea to pry off the oil tab on the speedo head to drop some sewing machine oil in as well.

          NEW OLD STOCK
          Means "OLD"
          If someone wants a pretty shiny NEW piece, Let them buy a new piece.
          Explain it as clearly and honestly as you can, and sell it as is.

            I concur. Sell it as is.

              I don't think this is the "Super Hawk" tach
              Maybe that is because it is a speedometer?

                    Thanks everyone for the help. I'll take the advice and sell it as is. It's only original once.

                    I'll post the link once the auction starts.

                        Ad looks good and nos does not mean perfect, it should sell and if your reserve is what you want for it you should be happy, good luck....Bob
