  • Blackhawk!

I was googling blackhawk because I'm infatuated with Studebakers prototype car. Then found these pics and thought wow. Really wish this car had been built.

    It's a 2000 Buick blackhawk concept.

Bad guy in a Batman movie, yada yada...actually, I can see Lamont Cranston in this one. It's so tasteful, it seems like only the angle of the windshield is not something a good early Fifties customizer would have done. The roofline alone would make a Bugatti pull over and let you by.

I don't think NHTSA bumpers are going to do a thing for it, though.

        BlackHawk, eh?

Yup yup- I do indeed remember that Buick~ dug it then- dig it now.

But after 30+ years involved with Studebakers--
this is the first time I have EVER heard of one with such a name.
Am I the only one? What'd it look like? What year was it built?

I believe that the Studebaker reference is to the Black Hawk and White Hawk Gran Turismo Hawk show cars.

That car was based on the y-job if I remember right. There was a story in Hot Rod when it was built. 455 Buick V-8 with furl injection.

The Y Job was a concept car built by Harley Earl. I saw the Blackhawk concept car in person at the Autorama in Sacramento several years ago. It was just as gorgeous in person as it is in pictures. Too bad they didn't build it.

So know one knows for sure what the Stude BlackHawk is/was...?
I'd really like to know- it HAS to be found~ or not if it was ugly!!!!

The Buick Y-job was the first concept car. Has hugely instrumental in setting GM's styling direction for years to come.

Last post was just June 16, 2011.

It's just a one-off Show Car, but they may have gotten feedback from the crowds enough to decide to include the Black or White Vinyl Half Roof on the '64 GT as an option.

I seem to recall the Buick Blackhawk being sold at a BJ auction a while back.
