  • Tomato Ready to Rock 'n Roll at Stanton

Ted took some photos of The Tomato 9/12/2011, ready for the trip to this year's Pure Stock Drags:

We've got to quit saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are taking it as a challenge.

    G. K. Chesterton: This triangle of truisms, of father, mother, and child, cannot be destroyed; it can only destroy those civilizations which disregard it.

Looks like ted is getting serious this year. Looks like it's the R2 again, (S/C on top of engine) will the R3 ever make it back in?

When Ted was running the R-3 last year it looked like an R-2 top mount as the 63 body will not accept the R-3 side mount set up. So unless he tells us we have no way to know what he is running but then neither does the competition!

Frank is correct. In order to use the side mount several things would have to be altered to do that and I didn't want to do any "butchering" to the car. I'm definitely NOT a body man.

The Tomato now has the original R 2 back in it. I hope to do another R 3 clone someday as it ran so well. It and the Wrapper were turning almost identical times. At Stanton last year the Tomato turned a 12.68 and the Wrapper 12.69. We are hoping to better that some this year but all depends on traction.

Dress warm....cooler temp but sunny in the forecast (for a change, with no rain). My Hawk likes cool temps. I still have a couple thing I want to do before I leave... three days and counting!

Side note to Richard Poe: Rich, I have problems linking to the racing stude site from my work computer so I'll answer your question here:

The SE wind would make it a slight TAIL wind at the track. We race east to west there. Also, I used my certificate last week. Picked up 12 HP and 12 Ftlb. with the tune up. It liked a fatter jet seting and 4* more initial timing. We'll see what this translates to on the track!! See you at Maxfield's Thursday night and at the track Friday!!

                Frank,
All good news. I wish I could have used the dyno tune myself. See you at Maxfield's.
