  • Starter needed

I'm in need of a starter for my 63 Champ with a 259 auto. It's a daily driver. Current drive gear is chewed up. Hope someone has a bolt on unit in good shape. Will exchange the old one. Thanks.

If the Bendix gear is chewed up, what does the ring gear on the torque converter look like?

Why not replace the Bendix, rather than the whole starter? Have you checked with your local auto electric shop?

What Brad said, Bob. If that's all that's wrong, any auto electric shop can easily replace the drive unit for you. 'No need to replace the whole starter. BP
