  • Any 59-60 Lark Wagons out there?

After doing an outstanding prep and paint job on a current Avanti project, and listening to my Studebaker B/S for the last 9 months, the Studebaker bug is flying around the head of a young guy I know. He is looking for a 59-60 Lark Wagon to restore/restomod, rod, or whatever you like to call it. Just putting a call out to see what might be available, would like it to be within a days drive of south central Pa. I can't sell him the wife's 59, unless I want to find myself looking for a new address!

Jim, John Wherry (JWW) has my old one, and he's right in PA. Might be able to talk him out of it.

Thanks for the tip Bob. Ready for mail count? I really don't like 2 week counts.

Bleah. With all that's happening I'm sure they'll be coming after us even harder than usual. I may lose a bit but my volume's never down as much as they hope, so sometimes it's a war. Also, just got a brand new OIC that's never done a count before... I think I can handle her but I'll probably have to do the paperwork since she's already stressing big time...

Personally I'm glad to hear it's a 2-week. The less the better...

You missed a good '60 2 dr wagon at the auction in IL last weekend. I stayed in TX & went to the Fredericksburg meet instead of going there.

              Hi Jim,

I do indeed have "Molly." If you do a search on the Forum for Molly, you'll find her story from CA, to WA, to NY, to PA. I have more projects than I'll ever get done, so I would be willing to let Molly go across the state. I live west of Pittsburgh near the Airport.

I bought Molly when Bob needed to sell her, and thought two things might happen. Either Bob would buy her back when he was in a position to have a "keeper" again, or that my brother might be interested in her. He was but has no extra garage space and he had just bought a new car.

So Molly sits and waits. Her "Lark Shine" has faded, and I've really done nothing to improve her. Send me a PM through the Forum or email me directly--
wherry at cobweb dot net and we'll talk.

                  Bob,
Good luck with the new OIC, we are on our 3rd since the PM retired in Feb, and the current one is a former acting POOM, so .......
I'm afraid I'm gonna take another big hit, I've lost a coulpe of businesses, a school, and have over 20 vacant boxes that I don't see gettng filled anytime soon! Not looking foreward to becoming an H route.
I looked up Molly, she looks like a sweetie, almost as cute as Judy's 59.

I had a lot of fun with that ol' car. Put a fair number of miles on it. Has a rebuilt trans. done by Gord Richmond and others at the '07 IM in SB. Drove it all over that week, including the Provng Grounds. To date it's the only car we named that stuck

I only sold it because things went sour. In fact, I sold over 30 cars I had, but that silly thing is one that I miss the most. JWW stepped in when it was really needed. I don't foresee ever being able to own it again, but it would be fun to see someone get it back on the road.

Side postal talk: I know I'm going to take a hit, but the key will be if they tweak the Box Factor again. Last time that alone cost me $4K.

According to the nice story you wrote for TW (October 2007, pages 18 and 19) and the old thread around here somewhere~ those 'others' would be none other then my Dad (StudeRich) Gahlbeck, my friend 'Doc' Garbareno, Tom Bredehoft, and Phil Hendrickson.

A good time was had by all because (as I recall) we kept Bob away from the tools...

No worries Bob. I bring it up because it was such a great story. Not everyone has heard/read it. And if that car changes hands yet again- it's story- and the role this Forum played should stay with the car. Think about it- no less then FOUR SDC Fourm members have owned it now!!! Twice that many had a hand in keeping it on the road in some way or another.

                              That's something special!!!

This Forum has been a lifesaver for many folks over the years, and Molly is one very well documented example. There are no hard feelings at this end- I'm sure that if the same situation came up again- it would happen the same way it did then. We're all in this StudeHobby together.
